About the Pontiac Fiero GT
The 1988 Fiero GT represents the pinnacle of the model's development, arriving just as General Motors cancelled the project. It is distinguished by its 'fastback' profile with flying buttress C-pillars and a more aggressive aero kit compared to the standard notchback. Most significantly, the 1988 model year introduced a bespoke suspension setup designed by Lotus, replacing the earlier cars' economy-car components. This final iteration finally delivered the handling and balance that the mid-engined layout had always promised.

Pontiac Fiero GT fun facts
- The 1988 model year was the only one to feature a unique suspension geometry specifically designed for the Fiero, rather than borrowing parts from the GM T-car and X-body platforms.
- The Fiero GT's 'Melling' fastback bodywork was so popular that it inspired many aftermarket body kits for earlier notchback models.
- Despite being cancelled due to declining sales and high insurance rates, the 1988 Fiero GT is now the most sought-after variant by collectors for its vastly superior driving dynamics.
