About the Peugeot 4007
Launched in 2007, the Peugeot 4007 was the result of a partnership with Mitsubishi, sharing its platform and body with the second-generation Outlander and the Citroën C-Crosser. While the exterior featured a distinctive Peugeot 'gaping' grille and swept-back headlights, the interior and chassis were largely Japanese in origin. It was powered by a refined 2.2-litre HDi diesel engine developed by PSA and Ford, which offered significantly more torque and better refinement than the Volkswagen-sourced units found in early Outlanders. The 4007 featured a versatile '5+2' seating arrangement with a fold-away third row and a split-opening tailgate, making it a practical family choice. Despite its competence, it remained a niche seller compared to more established European and Japanese SUV rivals.
