About the Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds
The third Hurst/Olds era moved to GM's Colonnade A-body, based on the semi-fastback Cutlass S coupé for 1973 and 1974 and on the formal-roofed Cutlass Supreme for 1975. The representative 1973 car has the 455 cu in (7.5-litre) Rocket V8 in L75 form, rated at 250 hp net and driving the rear wheels through a Turbo Hydra-matic 400 automatic worked by Hurst's Dual/Gate shifter, while a 270 hp L77 was offered on cars without air conditioning. Standard equipment included Cameo White or Ebony Black paint with gold accents, the first time two colours were offered, plus a landau vinyl half-roof, swivelling bucket seats and BF Goodrich Radial T/A tyres. For 1974 a 180 hp 350 joined a 230 hp W-30 455, and the 1975 car added Hurst Hatch T-tops as yearly production rose from 1,097 to 2,535.
