About the Oldsmobile Hurst/Olds
The 1983 Hurst/Olds was a celebratory collaboration between Oldsmobile and Hurst Performance, marking 15 years since the original 1968 'executive hot rod'. Based on the G-body Cutlass Calais, it featured a distinctive black and silver paint scheme with red pinstriping, a power-bulge hood, and a rear spoiler. Its defining feature is the 'Lightning Rod' triple-stick shifter, allowing manual control over the four-speed automatic transmission. While modest in power compared to the big-block era, its 3.73 rear gearing and high-output 307 V8 provided respectable performance for the early 1980s.
