About the Nissan Silvia S14
The S14-generation Nissan Silvia reached its aesthetic peak with the 1996 'Kouki' facelift, replacing the soft 'Zenki' styling with aggressive projector headlights and a sharper front fascia. The K's (King) trim remains the most desirable, featuring the legendary SR20DET engine which, in later Kouki models, benefited from a ball-bearing turbocharger to produce 250 PS. While its larger dimensions initially alienated some S13 purists, the S14's longer wheelbase and improved multi-link rear suspension eventually made it a preferred platform for professional drifting. Today, unmolested examples are increasingly rare as the chassis remains a primary target for extensive aftermarket modification.

Nissan Silvia S14 fun facts
- The 'Kouki' (meaning 'latter period') facelift was so distinct that enthusiasts often refer to it as the S14a to differentiate it from the earlier 'Zenki' models.
- While the Japanese Silvia K's received the turbocharged SR20DET, the North American 240SX equivalent was only ever sold with the naturally aspirated 2.4-litre KA24DE engine.
- The S14 was the first Silvia to be classified as a 'standard-sized' car in Japan due to its width exceeding 1,700mm, placing it in a higher tax bracket than its predecessor.
