About the Nissan Presea R11
The R11-generation Nissan Presea was a 'pillared hardtop' sedan designed to offer a more stylish, luxury-oriented alternative to the contemporary Sunny and Pulsar. Its name, Spanish for 'jewel', reflected a design philosophy focused on elegance, featuring frameless door windows and a distinctive grille-less front fascia. The 1.8-litre Refina trim utilised the reliable SR18DE engine, providing a smooth and refined driving experience suited for urban commuting. While popular with female drivers in Japan for its soft aesthetics and 'marine blue' illuminated instrument cluster, its low roofline compromised rear passenger space, leading to its eventual replacement by the more conventional Bluebird Sylphy.

Nissan Presea R11 fun facts
- The Presea's interior lighting was designed to be 'soothing', featuring a unique instrument panel that glowed in a specific shade of marine blue.
- Despite its compact Sunny-based platform, the Presea was marketed as a boutique luxury product, with trim levels named after jewellery measurements like 'Ct' for carat.
- The R11 generation was one of the last Nissan models to feature the 'pillared hardtop' body style, which lacked traditional window frames for a sleeker profile.
