About the Nissan Patrol Y61

The Y61-generation Nissan Patrol is a legendary off-roader, renowned for its rugged body-on-frame construction and live-axle suspension. The 2004 facelift introduced a more modern interior and a revised 3.0-litre ZD30 common-rail diesel engine with improved torque. While less refined on-road than contemporary rivals, its mechanical simplicity and immense durability have made it a global icon for overlanding and heavy-duty utility. It remains a cult favourite in the Middle East and Australia, where its robust drivetrain is frequently modified for extreme terrain.

Nissan Patrol Y61 fun facts

  • The Y61 Patrol was so popular in the Middle East and Africa that production continued for those markets until 2022, long after the Y62 successor was launched.
