About the Moskvich 2140
The Moskvich 2140 was a major facelift of the earlier 412, introduced by the Soviet manufacturer AZLK to meet evolving safety and aesthetic standards. It featured a revised exterior with rectangular headlights and a more ergonomic interior, though it retained the robust UZAM-412 engine based on a BMW design. Known for its durability and high ground clearance, it was a staple of Eastern Bloc motoring and was exported to Western markets as the Moskvich 1500. While basic by Western standards, its simplicity and ease of repair have earned it a dedicated following among classic car enthusiasts today.
