About the Mitsubishi Space Wagon
The third-generation Mitsubishi Space Wagon, launched in 1998, was a significant evolution of the MPV formula, offering a more car-like driving experience than its predecessors. It was notable for featuring Mitsubishi's Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) technology, which aimed to provide the power of a larger engine with the fuel economy of a smaller one. The interior was highly flexible, featuring three rows of seats that could be slid, folded, or removed to accommodate up to seven passengers or a vast amount of cargo. While it lacked the sliding doors of some rivals, its robust build quality and clever packaging made it a dependable family workhorse. Today, it is remembered as a practical, if understated, example of early 2000s Japanese engineering.
