About the Mitsubishi Galant A120

The third-generation Galant, marketed as the Galant Σ (Sigma) in Japan, represented a significant leap in refinement for Mitsubishi. Styled by Aldo Sessano, it featured a cleaner, more European aesthetic and improved aerodynamics compared to its predecessor. The 2.0 GLS was the range-topping trim, powered by the 'Astron' engine featuring Mitsubishi's innovative Silent Shaft technology—twin counter-rotating balance shafts that reduced vibration to levels comparable with a V8. While common in its day, early A120-series cars are now rare survivors, valued for their robust engineering and historical role in establishing Mitsubishi's reputation for quality.
