About the Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG C209
Built by HWA to commemorate Mercedes-Benz's dominance in the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters, the CLK DTM AMG is a thinly veiled race car for the road. It features a widened body with flared arches, a functional carbon-fibre rear wing, and a stripped-out interior with bucket seats and four-point harnesses. The chassis was heavily revised with adjustable coilover suspension and stiffer bushings to handle the massive torque from the hand-built V8. Only 100 Coupés were produced, followed by 80 Cabriolets, making it one of the rarest and most aggressive AMG models ever released.

Mercedes-Benz CLK DTM AMG C209 fun facts
- The car was originally owned by several Formula 1 drivers, including Jenson Button, Kimi Räikkönen, and Juan Pablo Montoya.
- Despite its racing pedigree, it uses a reinforced 5-speed torque-converter automatic because AMG's contemporary 7-speed unit could not handle the 800Nm of torque.
- The rear seats were removed and replaced by a carbon-fibre cross-brace to improve structural rigidity and save weight.
