About the Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 W109
The 300 SEL 6.3 was born from a secret project by engineer Erich Waxenberger, who shoehorned the massive M100 V8 from the 600 limousine into the W109 chassis. Upon discovery, chief engineer Rudolf Uhlenhaut approved production after a single test drive, creating what was then the world's fastest production sedan. It combined understated Paul Bracq styling with muscle car acceleration and sophisticated self-levelling air suspension. Today, it is revered as the spiritual ancestor of all modern AMG saloons, though its complex mechanical systems require specialist care.
