About the Mazda CX-30 DM
The Mazda CX-30 DM generation bridges the gap between the smaller CX-3 and the larger CX-5, offering a more premium interior and refined driving dynamics. The 2021 update introduced the 'e-Skyactiv X' engine, which uses a small supercharger and Spark Controlled Compression Ignition (SPCCI) to combine the efficiency of a diesel with the rev-happy nature of a petrol unit. In GT Sport trim, the cabin is exceptionally well-appointed with leather upholstery, a Bose sound system, and a head-up display, rivaling entry-level luxury crossovers. It is widely praised for its sharp steering and 'Jinba Ittai' handling philosophy, though rear passenger space remains tighter than some boxier rivals.

Mazda CX-30 DM fun facts
- The e-Skyactiv X engine is the world's first production petrol engine to use compression ignition, similar to a diesel engine.
- Despite having a supercharger, the engine is designed for efficiency rather than high-boost performance, using the blower primarily to lean out the fuel mixture.
- The CX-30 name was chosen to avoid confusion with the CX-4, a model sold exclusively in the Chinese market.
