About the Lotus Esprit V8
The Esprit V8 represented the pinnacle of Lotus's long-running supercar, finally replacing the high-strung four-cylinder units with a bespoke, all-aluminium 90-degree V8. Codenamed the Type 918, the engine featured two Garrett turbochargers and was capable of far more than the 350 hp it was restricted to by its Renault-sourced transaxle. It retained the legendary Lotus handling, characterized by a compliant ride and telepathic steering, while offering performance that could humble contemporary Ferraris. Today, it is a sought-after collector car, prized for its pure mid-engine layout and iconic 'folded paper' silhouette updated with 90s curves.
