About the Land Rover Series II

The Series II introduced the iconic 'barrel-sided' waistline designed by David Bache, a styling cue that defined the Land Rover silhouette for over half a century. This 1959 model features the then-new 2.25-litre overhead-valve petrol engine, which offered a significant power increase over the earlier 2.0-litre unit and became a legendary workhorse. While still utilitarian with its leaf-sprung suspension and minimalist interior, the Series II brought improved refinement and a wider track for better stability. It remains a cornerstone of the classic 4x4 market, prized for its simplicity, aluminium bodywork, and go-anywhere capability.
