Launched at the 1984 Turin Motor Show, the Lancia Thema was the first of the 'Type Four' platform cars, sharing its architecture with the Saab 9000, Fiat Croma, and Alfa Romeo 164. Designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, it offered a restrained, elegant alternative to the German executive establishment, featuring a high-quality interior often trimmed in Alcantara or Poltrona Frau leather. The 2.0 i.e. variant utilised the legendary Lampredi twin-cam engine, providing smooth, respectable performance for its class.
