About the Mercedes-Benz 190 E W201
Introduced in 1982, the W201-generation 190 series was the result of a six-hundred-million-pound development programme intended to bring Mercedes-Benz quality to the compact executive segment. The 190 E 2.0 features the M102 fuel-injected engine and a revolutionary five-link rear suspension that set new standards for ride and handling. Its Bruno Sacco-designed wedge profile was exceptionally aerodynamic for the era, achieving a drag coefficient of 0.33. Today, it is celebrated by collectors for its legendary durability and the 'hewn-from-granite' build quality typical of pre-merger Mercedes-Benz.
