About the Jaguar XK8 X100
Launched in 1996 to replace the long-running XJS, the XK8 (X100) introduced the AJ-V8, Jaguar's first eight-cylinder engine. Its curvaceous styling, penned by Geoff Lawson, intentionally evoked the iconic E-Type, successfully modernising Jaguar's grand touring image. While it shared a modified platform with the Aston Martin DB7, the XK8 focused on refined cruising rather than raw aggression. Early 4.0-litre models are noted for their smooth power delivery, though collectors often check for Nikasil cylinder liner issues and timing chain tensioner upgrades.
