About the Jaguar XJ220 S TWR
The XJ220 S TWR is a road-legal homologation special developed by Tom Walkinshaw Racing from the XJ220-C Le Mans racer. TWR replaced almost every aluminium body panel with carbon fibre, excluding only the doors, and added a prominent adjustable rear wing and deep front splitter. The JRV-6 engine was tuned to produce a staggering 680 hp, while a radical weight-saving programme shed nearly 400 kg compared to the standard car. With its fixed headlights and raw, race-derived interior, it represents the ultimate, uncompromised expression of the XJ220 project.

Jaguar XJ220 S TWR fun facts
- The XJ220 S was nicknamed the 'Opal Fruit' car because the first five examples were finished in bright orange, yellow, blue, green, and red.
- By replacing the heavy aluminium bodywork with carbon fibre, TWR reduced the kerb weight to just 1,050 kg, roughly the same as a contemporary hatchback.
- While the standard XJ220 used pop-up headlights, the S model features fixed units behind perspex covers to save weight and improve aerodynamics.
