About the McLaren F1 LM

The McLaren F1 LM was built to celebrate the marque's historic 1995 Le Mans victory, where the F1 GTR finished 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 13th. It is essentially a GTR race car for the road, featuring the unrestricted BMW S70/2 V12 engine and a fixed High Downforce Kit. Weight was reduced by 76kg over the standard F1 through the removal of sound deadening, the audio system, and the fan-assisted ground effect system. Five customer cars were produced, all finished in Papaya Orange in honour of Bruce McLaren, alongside one prototype (XP1 LM) retained by the factory.

McLaren F1 LM rarity in CarSpot

The McLaren F1 LM is a Unicorn card in CarSpot, with a rarity score of 100 out of 100. The rarest tier: hypercars, one-offs and cars built in tiny numbers, typically fewer than about 500. A Unicorn card is worth 320 XP.

Each model's tier starts from a 0–100 score based on its value plus its power or production numbers. Once enough players have spotted a model, how often it is spotted can move it up or down one tier. How CarSpot rarity works

Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.

McLaren F1 LM fun facts

  • The F1 LM's engine is more powerful than the Le Mans-winning GTR because it does not require the air restrictors mandated by racing regulations.
  • Despite being faster to 100 mph, the LM has a lower top speed than the standard F1 due to the significant drag created by its fixed rear wing.
  • The Sultan of Brunei famously purchased three of the five customer F1 LMs produced.
