About the Jaguar Mark VII
Introduced at the 1950 Earls Court Motor Show, the Jaguar Mark VII was a landmark luxury saloon that shared its 3.4-litre XK engine with the legendary XK120 sports car. It was the first Jaguar to offer an automatic transmission (from 1952) and featured a sophisticated chassis with independent front torsion bar suspension. Despite its substantial size and opulent walnut-and-leather interior, the Mark VII was a formidable performer, famously winning the 1956 Monte Carlo Rally. Its combination of 100 mph capability and relatively affordable pricing made it a massive success, particularly in the crucial North American export market.
