About the Isuzu D-Max
The second-generation Isuzu D-Max (RT50) arrived in the UK in 2012 as a replacement for the Rodeo, positioning itself as a more refined yet equally rugged alternative to the Toyota Hilux. This 2.5-litre twin-turbocharged diesel variant was the mainstay of the range until 2017, offering a flat torque curve that made it exceptionally capable for heavy-duty hauling. While the interior is functional rather than luxurious, its ladder-frame chassis and shift-on-the-fly 4WD system earned it a reputation for reliability in harsh environments. It remains a popular choice on the used market for those prioritizing mechanical longevity and a 3.5-tonne towing capacity.
