About the Infiniti Q50
The Infiniti Q50 was launched as a premium alternative to the BMW 3 Series, featuring a distinctive design and world-first technologies. The 2.2d variant utilised a 2.1-litre diesel engine and transmission sourced from Mercedes-Benz, providing a balance of efficiency and torque for the European market. It is most notable for introducing Direct Adaptive Steering, the first steer-by-wire system in a production car, which removed the mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels under normal conditions. While it offered a high-quality interior and generous equipment levels, it struggled to match the driving dynamics of its German rivals.
