About the Hyundai Accent X3
The first-generation Hyundai Accent, known internally as the X3, was a pivotal model for the South Korean manufacturer as it replaced the Mitsubishi-derived Excel with a car developed almost entirely in-house. Launched in 1994, it featured 'rounded-edge' styling that was highly contemporary for the mid-nineties and offered a significant step up in build quality and refinement. While primarily designed as affordable transport, its lightweight chassis and revvy 'Alpha' engine provided surprisingly agile handling. Today, early X3 Accents are becoming rare, particularly in the UK, where they were once a common sight on the roads.
