About the Ford Racing Puma Mk1
The Ford Racing Puma (FRP) was a limited-run evolution of the standard Puma, developed by Ford's specialist team at Boreham and hand-finished by Tickford in Daventry. It features a significantly widened track, flared aluminium front and steel rear arches, and a Yamaha-developed 1.7-litre engine tuned with new camshafts and a Janspeed exhaust. While its high launch price of £22,750 led to slow initial sales, it is now revered for its telepathic steering and a chassis often cited as one of the best front-wheel-drive setups ever produced. All 500 units were finished in metallic Imperial Blue with blue Alcantara Sparco bucket seats.
