About the Ford GT
Developed to celebrate Ford's centenary, the first-generation GT is a faithful modern recreation of the 1960s GT40. It features an all-aluminum space frame and a mid-mounted 5.4-litre V8 equipped with a Lysholm twin-screw supercharger. Unlike its high-tech European contemporaries, the GT is celebrated for its analog purity, lacking electronic stability control and featuring a traditional manual transaxle. Its combination of retro styling, immense torque, and daily usability has made it one of the most successful 'instant classics' in automotive history.

Ford GT rarity in CarSpot
The Ford GT is a Unicorn card in CarSpot, with a rarity score of 100 out of 100. The rarest tier: hypercars, one-offs and cars built in tiny numbers, typically fewer than about 500. A Unicorn card is worth 320 XP.
Each model's tier starts from a 0–100 score based on its value plus its power or production numbers. Once enough players have spotted a model, how often it is spotted can move it up or down one tier. How CarSpot rarity works
Rarity is a collectible game mechanic, not an assessment of real-world scarcity or value.
Ford GT fun facts
- The car's doors are integrated into the roof, a design feature carried over from the original GT40 to facilitate driver changes during pit stops.
- Carroll Shelby, the man behind the original GT40's success, was brought in by Ford to help with the performance testing of the prototypes.
- The 2005 GT was the first production car to use 'superplastic-formed' aluminum body panels, allowing for its complex, curvaceous shape.
