About the Ford Focus ST Mk1
Launched as the bridge between the standard Mk1 Focus and the hardcore RS, the ST170 was the first global performance product from Ford's Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) team. Its 2.0-litre Duratec engine received a Cosworth-developed cylinder head, variable valve timing, and a dual-stage intake manifold to produce 171 bhp. While often overshadowed by the RS in period, it is now celebrated for its purity of steering and the balance of its 'Control Blade' multi-link rear suspension. It remains a highly regarded driver's car that offers a more accessible and refined alternative to its turbocharged sibling.
