About the Ford Fiesta Mk5
Known in Britain as the Mk5, this Fiesta was a heavy facelift of the 1995 Mk4. It was unveiled in September 1999 with a Focus-inspired New Edge face, new bumpers and new wheel designs, and it kept the BE91 code name. Side airbags became available and leather trim returned after launch. The UK range ran through Encore, Finesse, Zetec, LX and Ghia, with the 1.6-litre Zetec S added in 2000, and engines included the 1.3-litre Endura-E, 16-valve Zetec-SE petrols and 1.8-litre diesels. The representative 1.25 Zetec uses the 1,242 cc Zetec-SE engine with 75 PS and 110 Nm through a five-speed manual gearbox, and the three-door stayed on sale alongside the new Mk6 until December 2002.
