About the Fiat Scudo 1
The first-generation Fiat Scudo was a product of the Sevel Nord joint venture between Fiat and the PSA Group, sharing its platform and body with the Citroën Dispatch and Peugeot Expert. Designed to bridge the gap between small car-derived vans and larger commercial vehicles, it offered a car-like driving position derived from the Fiat Ulysse MPV. The 1.9 D variant served as the entry-level diesel option, prioritising mechanical simplicity and low running costs over performance. While slow by modern standards, its compact dimensions and tight turning circle made it a staple for urban deliveries across Europe throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s.
