About the Fiat 124 Sport Spider

The Fiat 124 Sport Spider is a quintessential Italian roadster, designed by Tom Tjaarda at Pininfarina and based on a shortened 124 saloon chassis. The 1975 model year represents the 'CS1' series, which was primarily produced for the North American market following Fiat's decision to focus Spider sales there. It features the celebrated Aurelio Lampredi-designed twin-cam engine, known for its rev-happy nature and distinct exhaust note. While 1975 models adopted larger impact bumpers to meet US safety regulations, they retained the four-wheel disc brakes and five-speed gearbox that made them superior to many contemporary rivals. Today, it is a popular entry-level classic valued for its elegant styling and mechanical simplicity.
