About the Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina
Launched at the 2000 Paris Motor Show, the 550 Barchetta Pininfarina is a limited-edition roadster celebrating the 70th anniversary of Ferrari's legendary design partner. It is a true barchetta, featuring a windshield 100mm lower than the Maranello coupe and no permanent roof; the provided fabric 'rain fly' is strictly for emergency use and limited to 70 mph. Mechanically identical to the 550 Maranello, it retains the front-mounted V12 and a tactile six-speed gated manual transaxle. With only 448 units produced, it has become a highly sought-after modern classic for its analog driving experience and striking, open-air silhouette.

Ferrari 550 Barchetta Pininfarina fun facts
- The car was delivered with two matching helmets, as the low windshield and lack of a roof made high-speed driving a very exposed experience.
- Every example features a numbered plaque on the dashboard personally signed by Sergio Pininfarina.
- Despite the lack of a roof mechanism, the Barchetta weighs the same as the coupe due to significant additional chassis reinforcement and heavy-duty roll hoops.
