About the Dodge 400

Introduced for the 1982 model year, the Dodge 400 was a premium 'Super K' variant of the Chrysler K platform, positioned as a more sophisticated alternative to the utilitarian Aries. It featured a distinctive prow-shaped front fascia with quad headlamps and significantly enhanced sound insulation to justify its personal luxury marketing. While the 2.2-litre engine provided modest performance, the 400 was notable for helping reintroduce the American convertible to mass production mid-way through 1982. The model was short-lived, lasting only two years before being absorbed into the Dodge 600 line for 1984.
