About the DKW F7

The DKW F7 was a cornerstone of pre-war German motoring, notable for its advanced front-wheel-drive layout and transverse engine mounting. The '700' trim, often referred to as the Meisterklasse, featured a larger 692cc two-cylinder two-stroke engine compared to the entry-level Reichsklasse. Its construction was unique, utilizing a timber frame made of ash covered in plywood and synthetic leather or steel panels. While modest in power, its lightweight design and FWD traction provided nimble handling for the era, making it a popular choice for the middle class before the F8 succeeded it in 1939.
