About the Daihatsu Terios J200
The second-generation Daihatsu Terios, known internally as the J200, was developed in conjunction with Toyota, who sold it as the Rush. Unlike many contemporary 'soft-roaders', the Terios features a permanent four-wheel-drive system with a centre differential lock, making it surprisingly capable on rough terrain. The 1.5-litre 3SZ-VE engine is a robust unit also found in various Toyota models, prioritising reliability over outright performance. The SX trim was a mid-to-high specification in the UK, offering a balance of utility and creature comforts in a narrow-bodied package ideal for rural lanes.
