About the Daihatsu Charade G200
The G200-generation Daihatsu Charade arrived in 1993, featuring a more rounded 'bio-design' aesthetic compared to its boxy predecessor. The 1.3 Xi trim utilised the HC-E engine, a 16-valve SOHC unit known for its reliability and decent power-to-weight ratio in such a light chassis. While it lacked the prestige of the De Tomaso performance variant, the 1.3-litre models were praised for their nimble handling and efficient packaging. Today, they are rare survivors of the 1990s Japanese small-car boom, valued by enthusiasts for their simplicity and mechanical robustness.
