About the Citroën Xantia

The Citroën Xantia, designed by Bertone, was the sophisticated successor to the BX and a standard-bearer for the brand's legendary hydropneumatic suspension. The 1.9 TD variant utilised the robust PSA XUD engine, which became a staple of the 1990s European diesel boom for its reliability and low-end torque. While not a performance car, its self-levelling Hydractive II system provided a magic-carpet ride quality that few contemporary rivals could match. Today, it is gaining recognition as a modern classic, particularly for its unique engineering and the 'Activa' variant's record-breaking handling, though the standard TD remains a practical and comfortable entry point into Citroën ownership.
