About the Citroën SM
The Citroën SM is a landmark of 1970s engineering, born from Citroën's acquisition of Maserati to create a high-performance grand tourer. It features the legendary hydropneumatic self-levelling suspension and the innovative DIRAVI speed-sensitive, self-centering steering, which was decades ahead of its time. The 2.7-litre Maserati V6 provides smooth, high-speed cruising capabilities, though the car is defined more by its aerodynamic stability and ride quality than raw acceleration. Its production was cut short by the 1973 oil crisis and Citroën's subsequent bankruptcy, cementing its status as a rare and technically ambitious collector's icon.
