About the Chevrolet Uplander
The Chevrolet Uplander was introduced for the 2005 model year as a 'crossover sport van', replacing the Venture and Astro. It featured a prominent, elongated front fascia intended to mimic the appearance of an SUV, though it remained a traditional minivan under the skin, sharing its U-body platform with the Buick Terraza and Saturn Relay. The 3.9-litre V6, introduced as an option shortly after launch, provided a much-needed power boost over the base 3.5-litre unit, though it necessitated the removal of the all-wheel-drive option due to torque constraints. While practical, the Uplander struggled to compete with more refined rivals and was eventually replaced by the Traverse crossover.
