About the Chevrolet Nova
Introduced in 1962 as the Chevy II, the Nova was Chevrolet's urgent response to the Ford Falcon, favouring a conventional front-engine, rear-drive layout over the radical Corvair. The 194 cubic-inch (3.2-litre) 'Hi-Thrift' straight-six was the mainstay engine, offering reliable, if modest, performance for the era. While later generations became muscle car icons, the first-generation Nova is prized by collectors for its clean, crisp styling and semi-unibody construction. It was available in five body styles, with the Nova 400 trim representing the top of the range, featuring upgraded brightwork and interior appointments.
