About the BMW X5 M E70
The E70 X5 M was a landmark vehicle for BMW's M division, being the first all-wheel-drive model and the first to use turbocharging in the brand's performance history. Powered by the S63 twin-scroll twin-turbo V8, it delivered supercar-rivalling acceleration in a package that retained the practical five-door utility of the standard X5. It features a bespoke M-tuned xDrive system with a heavy rear bias and Active Roll Stabilization to manage its significant mass through corners. While controversial at launch for its departure from naturally aspirated engines, it proved that an SUV could genuinely handle like a sports car.
