About the Austin A99 Westminster
Introduced in 1959, the A99 Westminster was the flagship of Austin's 'Farina' range, featuring sharp Italian styling by Pininfarina. It shared its 2.9-litre C-Series engine with the Austin-Healey 3000, providing significant torque for effortless long-distance cruising. The A99 was a major technical step forward for BMC, being the first Austin saloon to feature power-assisted front disc brakes as standard. While it prioritised comfort and space over handling, its robust construction and understated elegance made it a popular choice for professional and police use.
