About the Ariel Nomad R
The Ariel Nomad R is a limited-edition variant designed to trade some of the standard car's off-road prowess for extreme tarmac performance. It replaces the usual 2.4-litre Honda engine with the high-revving 2.0-litre K20Z3 unit from the Atom 3.5, paired with a Sadev six-speed sequential gearbox. The chassis features 18-inch wheels with Yokohama A052 tyres and revised Bilstein dampers, resulting in a vehicle that behaves like a rear-wheel-drive rally car on asphalt. Only 50 units were produced, making it one of the rarest and most aggressive iterations of the Nomad platform.

Ariel Nomad R fun facts
- The Nomad R uses a Sadev six-speed sequential gearbox similar to those found in full-spec rally cars, allowing for clutchless upshifts in just 40 milliseconds.
- Unlike the standard Nomad, the R features a rear-mounted radiator to improve cooling during high-speed tarmac use and to protect it from debris.
- The 2.0-litre supercharged engine produces 335 bhp, which in a 670 kg car results in a power-to-weight ratio of 500 bhp per tonne.
