About the Acura RDX TB3
The second-generation Acura RDX (TB3) marked a significant shift in philosophy, replacing the high-strung turbocharged four-cylinder of its predecessor with a smooth 3.5-litre J-series V6. This transition aimed for a more 'mature' driving experience, prioritising ride comfort and fuel efficiency through Variable Cylinder Management (VCM II) over raw sportiness. Built on a platform shared with the Honda CR-V, it offered a more spacious cabin and improved noise insulation, successfully repositioning the RDX as a premium, reliable family hauler. While it lost the sophisticated SH-AWD system in favour of a lighter, simpler AWD setup, the V6's linear power delivery made it one of the quickest vehicles in its class at the time.
