About the Volvo 460
Launched in 1989 as the saloon counterpart to the 440 hatchback, the Volvo 460 was a key part of the 'Galaxy Project' that modernised Volvo's smaller car range. Built at the NedCar plant in the Netherlands, it shared a front-wheel-drive platform with the 480 coupé and featured Renault-sourced engines. The 1.8 SE trim offered a balance of comfort and practicality, featuring the B18U engine with single-point injection. While often overshadowed by the larger 850, the 460 is remembered for its robust build quality and early adoption of side-impact protection systems.
