About the Volkswagen Tiguan R Mk2
Introduced as part of the Mk2 facelift, the Tiguan R is the first full-fat 'R' version of Volkswagen's best-selling SUV. It shares the EA888 evo4 engine and sophisticated 4MOTION system with the Mk8 Golf R, featuring R-Performance Torque Vectoring that can distribute 100% of rear torque to a single wheel. Despite its high centre of gravity, the R sits 10mm lower than standard models on adaptive DCC dampers, offering surprising agility and a sub-5 second sprint to 62 mph. It remains a niche performance choice in a segment dominated by more sensible diesel and hybrid variants.
