About the Volkswagen Golf Plus
Introduced at the 2004 Bologna Motor Show, the Golf Plus was designed to bridge the gap between the standard Golf hatchback and the Touran MPV. It sits 95mm taller than the Mk5 Golf it is based on, providing a higher seating position and a more flexible cabin with a sliding rear bench. The 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine is a robust, simple unit known for its reliability rather than outright performance. While it lacks the sharp dynamics of the standard Golf, it offers superior visibility and ease of access, making it a popular choice for families and older drivers.
