About the Volkswagen Atlas
Introduced for the 2018 model year, the Volkswagen Atlas was the brand's first dedicated three-row SUV designed specifically for the North American market. Built in Chattanooga, Tennessee, it utilised a stretched version of the MQB platform to provide class-leading interior space and genuine adult-sized third-row seating. The 3.6-litre VR6 engine provided a traditional, naturally aspirated alternative to the base four-cylinder turbo, offering smooth power delivery and a 5,000lb towing capacity. While not a performance vehicle, its composed ride and massive utility made it a significant commercial success for Volkswagen in the US.
