About the Vauxhall Insignia VXR A
The Insignia VXR was the flagship performance model of Vauxhall's first-generation Insignia, featuring a sophisticated Haldex all-wheel-drive system and HiPerStrut front suspension to manage its power. Developed extensively at the Nürburgring, it utilised a single twin-scroll turbocharger on its 2.8-litre V6 to produce 325 PS. While heavy, the VXR offered impressive cross-country pace and stability, serving as a more affordable alternative to contemporary Audi S and BMW M-Sport models. It remains a notable example of the 'super-saloon' era for the British brand before its transition to PSA ownership.

Vauxhall Insignia VXR A fun facts
- The Insignia VXR was the first production Vauxhall to use an all-wheel-drive system since the Calibra and Cavalier 4x4 models of the 1990s.
- A 'Unlimited' version was later released which removed the electronic speed limiter, allowing the car to reach a top speed of 170 mph (274 km/h).
- The car's HiPerStrut suspension was specifically designed to reduce torque steer, a common issue in high-powered front-biased Vauxhalls.
