About the Vauxhall Frontera B
The second-generation Vauxhall Frontera (Frontera B) arrived in 1998, significantly refining the rugged but agricultural formula of its predecessor. Based on the Isuzu MU/Wizard, it was manufactured at the IBC Vehicles plant in Luton and featured a more rounded design, improved safety, and a more car-like interior. While it retained a traditional ladder-frame chassis and low-range transfer case for genuine off-road capability, the B model introduced coil-spring rear suspension to address the previous version's poor ride quality. Despite being a massive sales success in Europe, it struggled to compete with the refinement of newer unibody rivals like the Land Rover Freelander.
