About the Vauxhall Corsa D
The Corsa D was a significant step forward for Vauxhall, sharing its 'SCCS' platform with the Fiat Grande Punto to offer a more grown-up driving experience than its predecessor. The 2011 facelift introduced the Euro 5-compliant A12XER engine, which featured variable valve timing to improve efficiency and power over the earlier Twinport units. The SXi trim was a popular choice for younger drivers, offering a sportier aesthetic with dark-tinted windows, alloy wheels, and a slightly firmer suspension setup without the high insurance costs of the SRi or VXR models. While not the most dynamic in its class, it remains a common sight on UK roads due to its ease of use and low running costs.
